Closest Motel 6 to Ames is 26 Miles away from what their site says. Is that the one you guys are staying at?

suggestion...make some reservations in whatever cities, at whatever stops, you plan on attending (maybe using the hotel tally as a guide); then in early/mid-May, get back online, look for open rooms; the HR reservations company usually releases their "blocks" of rooms about that time (rooms unclaimed and uneeded); you might find other rooms open then that show as "booked" now.....

Your are correct. I misread my list. As I recall, most room in Ames are a little pricey.
