  • Barn find for power tour??

I just bought a project car and i'm thinking should I wait until its more presentable for power tour or should I take it in "barn find" condition and do a power tour "beater" thing?? Most cars on power tour are more show pieces than beaters. Here is a pic of current condition.

Just as it is, bonus points if it has an Uncle Buck backfire :D

If the brakes are good steering accepatble, and the engine and trans behave/sound normal, I wouldn't hesitate to run it in beater condition.
    Escaped on a technicality.

      Do it !
I did the same thing a few years ago with a 60 wagon that looked to be in worse shape than the stang. In 5 months, with a $500 budget, it was almost "Power Tourable" My buddy Airport Steve and I long hauled it on it's maiden voyage, and had the best time we have ever had on the Tour. Also met more nice folks that year than any other year we toured.

      Do it !

p.s. we ended up spending almost a grand, but well worth it.

Who cares what it looks like as long as it's somewhat reliable! :D

I agree, get it road-worthy and hit it! Spruce it up later........if you still want to..... :D

As is, that gets more attention than all the "show" cars! Also, you have to get a really cool hood ornament! Just ask Dave the Bartender!!

If it is a "barn find" car, depending on how long it has sat, it could be enough work by June just to get it road worthy and SAFE. Brakes, tires, steering, suspension, fuel lines, etc. If all is well, drive it

according to previous owner, "everything worked when it was parked a few years ago", so we will see when i start to tear into it this weekend.

That's great...If it started up and moved under its own power that's half the battle. Hopefully you can do a thorough inspection and then just drive it Good Luck
