Re: Power Tour Newbie, exactly how does this work?
Welcome to the insanity.
Last year I spent I want to say around $6500 to just get my car ready {paint, wheels/tires/ interior crap} so, as far as what the trip cost us...I think I have all my receipts still sitting saved up. My guess I toasted around $800 on fuel.
Rooms, we were around $1k.
Food, hell, we hit up a mix. Some fast food, some nice, some times we stopped off and got drinks and snacks at walmart.
My guess we spent $400-$500.
This year, I am expecting to spent $2500 to be brutally honest.
Scary, but I have decided I want to live a little, and worth eating mac and cheese and blowing the budget and toasting away the tax return.
To save money, just do a few simple things:
Check in, get creds:
Pass out after first day's drive:
Find shady spot, and be equipped with a fully stocked cooler:
Enjoy the sites:
Look out for the law:
Save on laundry, go barefoot:
Wash your shorts in the hotel sink and air dry:
Find a few good crazy people to test speed limits with:
See neat places to stop:
{or, in the case of my wife, no DONUTS }
Enjoy the drive:
And have fun with those close by!
