Re: Cruisin the Coast
After lurking here for a while this thread has prompted me to reply.
I dearly love the HRPT after long hauling the last two years.
Cruisin' the Coast is every bit as much fun as the HRPT while being vastly different. (Some of my friends prefer it but it's a tossup for me). It is held in early October in the Gulport/Biloxi, MS area in the towns of Bay St. Louis, D?Iberville and Ocean Springs.
These venues put on an amazing event with bands, vendors, cruise-ins, a car auction and lots more.. You travel the 30 miles from one end of the event to the other along Beach Highway on the gulf along with thousands of your friends and every type vehicle you can imagine.
Last year had 4,854 registered vehicles and it seemed like there were at least that many more that were unregistered.
If you like old cars, music (and a little beer) this is something you should check out. Google up some more info and decide for yourself.

Re: Cruisin the Coast
I have went a couple of times. Spent a lot of time sitting in traffic and it was HOT ! Luckily the vintage air was outstanding. My favorite part was Ocean Springs. If I go again, I will plan everything around the day they have there big "to-do".
All you can eat king crab legs at the casino we stayed at . . . OH YEAH !

I am only a hop, skip, and jump away from Mississippi; so, I should probably look into this.....sigpic

Re: Cruisin the Coast
I'd Love to do this, but unfortunately, due to my school schedule, and time off, I'm doubting I'll be able to pull it off. The PT eats up quite a bit of my vacation, and a LOT of my funds..... ;Dsigpic

Re: Cruisin the Coast
I've been once. I like powertour better, but like someone said it's just different. To me the mississippi coast pales in comparison to ours as far a vacation destination. It's a bad time of the year for me as well but I'd definitely attend it again with friends...Powertour off/on since 2002

Re: Cruisin the Coast
one thing I will like is one place to stay every night...the packing & unpacking got old...I think we will have more friends that we already know going to the coast than were able to do PT; BUT...made lots of new friends on Pt...just something different! The man I spoke to first of this week said over 3,000 registered already! & this isn't till October! Our gang has two complete floors of a big condo complex rented....should be fun!!
