Most gps systems show your speed. Also they make a gps speedometer adaptor.

i have used the gps at first i just velcro'd it over the original speedo but it didnt get a signal all the time i guess with the metal in the dash. my bracket broke so i cant stick on the windshield. so i did what i thought was the best idea, made aquick guage panel and filled it with 4 autometer phantom2 guages and a speedo and tach, and of coarse the most needed thing and whole point of that project, the speedo, isnt working work. its not like the stuff was cheap either.

We won't be cruising a 100 mph like in past years, last year we all tried to stay together around 60 and 70. People were much happier and we were able to stick together better.

I just got a new phone so you can track us online or by phone. Also we just got a text capable phone, for easy updates.

I think your right too much metal in the way, can you put it in under the plastic speaker cover in the dash?
