A Tremec TKO will be in the mix sooner or later(hopefully later) for my car. Until then the T-5 will live, overpunished in my tunnel while i wait for its cost effectiveness to give way to reliable issues. I found a new w-c T-5 out of an s-10 pickup in Texas for 500 beaners is why i still have one. it's definitely a budget overdrive. The first one that i broke was used and free and had around 100,000 miles on it(could have played a factor with breakage).
Went on our first HRPT last year (2011) with my then just turned 16 year old son. in my '90 notch.
This year my now 17 year old son will be driving us in his hot rod. I know most of us don't go for the import stuff, but at least he is into cars. Its got B18C motor swap (dyno tuned and ecu chipped), JDM type R header, APEXI stainless exhaust, Lowered it with Eibach sport springs. Plus so other things planed before the HRPT.
I look forward to spending so quality time with him and seeing the GREAT USA!

I ran a solid roller in the Judge in 09. It went the distance, but there was some damage after I tore that engine down. I think it was a combo of spring pressure, and long cruising rpms in the 2700 range,
My 79 TA has a solid roller and made the long haul last year. I went a little over 3,000 miles start to finish and only had a ps hose go and a small coolant leak that still made it home ok with those issues. The engine itself was fine. It was really hott and came close to vapor locking like many others had to deal with also. I now know if I had only ran a return gas line it wouldn't have been an issue. I was truly thankful for my 5 speed OD Richmond tranny. It got an average over 25 mpgs for the whole tour. And that's with an 850 Holley on it. Guess I have it tuned pretty good. Gonna take our new GS Corvette this year.
