As of now, I have a room booked at HIE near the I20 Parks Mall; it's off of Pleasant Place. The one off of Wet n Wild didn't offer Military Discount Rate...... Hmmmmm

Go to Holiday Inn's website, and check the 'government' rate on the first page.....should get it for ya.

Come to think Linda, Kellers would be bad for this - 2-300 cars would overfill it if anyone on Facebook does a search for "Forest Lane Cruise" they should have some info - that used to be the Cruise area in Dallas! if we could organize this it would have alot more parking as mostly shopping centers and restaraunts line the street - but if we do this Friday night it would kill theFreak GTG at my place - guess we could do something after the long haul meeting?

In Arlington, booked the HI by Rangers ballpark, only about 6 miles from Dallas Stadium if that ends up being the end point, but it's just throwing darts....

SoCal - the Rangers park is within walking distance of Cowboys stadium - they share parking lots

I just talked with Adrian Murray of Painless about the location and here is what he said..

They haven't firmed it up yet but it looks as if Ranger Stadium is the best bet. They can't confirm until the 2012 baseball schedule is out, though..

And not being a baseball smarty,I have no idea when the schedule comes out for 2012..Any one have any idea??

found one site that says 2012 schedules come out in September; not sure if that's right, though; on another note, checking hotel rates in Muskegon....they seem like they've really gone up......we'll see what Family Events has to offer (or stay a little bit away from Muskegon).....

I booked HI on Van Dyke in Warren for friday and Saturday and HI in Muskegon. Still working on Arlington. It seems like someone told all the HI's that we are coming already. I'm going to hunt for some cheap hotels along the way and keep what I have so far.

Um.... why are they doing the same venues as last year? I mean I didnt go last year so Muskegon will be my first time but are they that hard up for places to go or they(Family events) making something on the backside? I smell a rat and I dont mean big block

Hot Rod has a huge say in the sites, as Jerry explained at the Long Hauler ceremony at Milford, a lot has to do with sponsorship and facility, it cannot just go anywhere anymore! Most places have to be a stadium, racetrack or fairgrounds, and yes a city streets also. From Detroit down towards Texas not a lot of choices in the like 3-4 hour premium timeframe for the drives as he explained!Family Events and Hot Rod meet and discuss places, dont think Family Events does it all alone by any stretch! I am sure Hot Rod didnt turn over the keys to the event!

it is also about the money. not everyone wants or can put up the $35,000.00. Muskegon must have really thought it was worth the money because they popped fast for it. we are going back to Muskegon because they came up with the money.

GM is a THE main sponsor, so that explains Detroit. I'm suprised it doesn't end or start there every other year.

Dallas because when Year One bailed, Painless stepped up to the plate. after a few years of stepping up, they deserve the stop.

yeah I understand, but they need to break out of the mold and do something else. Like I said I didnt go last year so Muskegon will be a "new" stop for me. I enjoy doing HRPT because I get out of the house and travel - hopefully to places I havent been and some I have. Its still fun, years ago I decided that the next time they went to Cali - I would be all in for that- they never went back I know there aint crap(many big cities) west of Dallas but they did it before. It went from about the Hotrods to all about the sponsors. GM is a Global company and just staying in midwest and ignoring the rest of the country is crazy. when GM was working thru their "issues" a couple years ago they pretty well dumped us -sorry no GM stop and we went to the lake, I thought maybe now someone else would drive the bus, but they hung in there. I cant remember what year that GM didnt bring their toy cars - so they had little to display- why didnt they find a few participants to represent GM and allow them the parking at GM's truck? I hate to say it but that was plain stupid of them. well I gotta go and look at a new Mustang
