I'm in at Wixom....what's interesting is the announcement for the GM Proving Grounds, vs. the press release earlier re: hosting the cars/trucks in downtown Mt. Clemens........is that still on, or was there some "friction" between the parties?......

I spoke to FE and they said that the reason they picked hotels in Waren is because they could not find enough hotels close to the GM Proving Grounds.

There's no such thing as "Too much Power", only too little traction.
I'm glad we're going back to the Proving Grounds, although I did read something awhile ago from Mt. Clemens about them being glad PT was coming back there. I suspect security will be pretty tight, though!
Hot Rod Power Tour...As much fun as you can have in a car with your clothes on!!

We are keeping our reservations near Gateway in case they do something late that night (which I doubt). We also made a reservation in Fenton,MO to get a little jump on the next days drive and avoid having to cross the river into St Louis in the morning.
You will probably want to hang around Gateway later if you stay anywhere on the Missouri side anyway. We have been through there many times (3 times last summer alone) & goal one is always to avoid the afternoon rush. Yes, this is my first post on bangshift. Always thought about joining but seeing the strong HRPT support group here sold me. We long hauled for our honeymoon in 2009 & it just became automatic the next two years. Now we start planning the next year about the day after we get home from the long hauler event. And of course I now build the cars for that purpose.
I just got us into the Quality Inn SW about 3 miles from Fenton. $53 queen/$59 king with senior discount. Looks like a decent place. In the Choice Hotels group. Now if I could just figure out a way to post a profile picture on the site.

Welcome aboard FNG er I mean 67 Malibu
And here we were told that a rumor was going around that people weren't joining Bangshift because of us.
Soooo, exactly what time does the afternoon traffic start building?
Or what time do we need to leave Gateway to avoid it might be a better question.
Yeah, the FNG thing was a bit of a hoot to me. Last time that I heard that was when I stepped off the plane in Vietnam in 1970. Don't know what it takes to get rid of that. My guess is that the traffic starts to pick up around 3:30 & doesn't start to wind down until 6:00 or so. Unfortunately, each time that we went through last summer we caught it in that time frame. The only positive was that we were going into St. Louis while everyone else was leaving. And the traffic going out (west) was barely moving. I don't remember when they end the stage show but we'll probably throw the lawn chairs down there & hang around until 6:30 or so.
