Good call to stay in the Fenton area instead of the East side of STL. Coming from a local, you can find plenty of places to eat, etc. and not be near the East STL crowd which is a huge bonus. Also, being down I-44 a bit will help with the long drive the next morning. I'll be sleeping in my own bed that night and cutting across country to meet I-44 then down to Joplin. Really happy the venue wasn't Bush Stadium, as that would be a traffic nightmare.
So, who else is confused on the Proving Ground annoucement? I'm looking at hotels near Milford as a backup just in case they have us there.Leave a comment:

Ok then, will be canceling that reservation and go with the Fenton one...ThxOriginally posted by 69SS 350 5 Speed View PostWe are staying at Hotel Jim & Maureen on Tuesday evening. The rate is really cheap. Do not stay in Fairview Heights. I do not care what hotel it is. Fairview Heights is an extension of East St. Louis and you do not want to be there after dark. If you do decide to stay there, you very well may be looking for a ride on Wednesday morning. The HIE in Fenton is just fine and the neighbors aren't too bad.Leave a comment:

Hot Rod now shows the Proving Grounds as the venue. We have reservations at the HI on VanDyke and at the HIE in Wixom just in case.Last edited by 69SS 350 5 Speed; January 4, 2012, 05:45 PM.Leave a comment:

as stated, I did the same......never been to St. Louis, seems to be a ton of hotels downtown and near airport, but.....seemed like a good idea to jump in at the HEI in Fenton.....beat the St. Louis traffic the next morning on the way to Miami......Originally posted by redragtop View PostWe have reservations near Gateway Motorsports park at

I like your idea, I made a reservation for the Holiday Inn Express in Fenton.Originally posted by redragtop View PostWe also made a reservation in Fenton,MO to get a little jump on the next days drive and avoid having to cross the river into St Louis in the morning.
Since we usually don't go to the drivers meeting in the morning, this might work out best for us.Last edited by 67Cutlass; January 4, 2012, 09:55 AM.Leave a comment:

In 2004 we stayed at the Millenium by the arch and they had a secure parking area in their garage just for PT cars. The traffic wasn't too bad to get back across the river and to Gateway for the driver's meeting.

I found a Sleep Inn in Pontoon Beach IL. Has pretty good reviews, mid-scale hotel and is next to a police station! Price very reasonable. $80.99 for senior, king-size no smoking. Its about 9 miles from the venue tho.
Anyone else staying at Pontoon Beach?Last edited by maromoma; January 4, 2012, 09:21 AM.Leave a comment:

So where is everyone staying near Gateway? It looks like 'most' places to stay are downtown near the Arch. Parking might be a problem downtown. I'm not wild about the idea of valet parking.
I've booked the Drury Inn Union Station, just west of downtown. Free secure garage parking. Seems most others in downtown want 20/35+ dollars just to park your car. I called a few of the downtown hotels directly and they couldn't tell me where parking was or if it was secure. What's with that? You work at the hotel and you don't know what the parking situation is?
This time they have not listed any hotel as the 'Host'.Leave a comment:
