Sunday, June 8th Exit from The Rock

Good morning to all from Carol, aka HRM, in The Rock. After meeting with the LR Police Department I have secured the tour's exit w/ full police escort for Sunday morning, June 8. Roosevelt, the street that cruisers will take when leaving the fairgrounds Sunday morning, will be closed to local traffic, intersections protected by LRPD and police in front, middle and behind tour. Additionally, LRPD will assist the tour while accessing I-30 to make sure everyone gets in the outside lane needed to merge into I-40.

When the tour reaches its exist off of I-40 [exit 125 to Hwy 65] you will be greeted and escorted by Conway Police Department in the same manner as The Rock's process through the cities of Conway and Greenrierbrier, which should help get everyone a safe start on 65. My meeting with Chief Gary and his police officers went very well - many of them being car nuts like we are - same for Little Rock.

Last, I have also secured traffic control particularly on Roosevelt for Friday and Saturday - I believe our plan will lessen the pains of setting in traffic to enter the fairgrounds. If the number of planned officers we have scheduled for this effort is not enough - we have officers on standby. Also working closely with
Family Events team regarding logistics for entry into the venue - great team of people for sure.

I apologize for the lengthy notification but I thought all would welcome this news with open arms. We cannot wait for all of you to arrive in the state of Arkansas and The Rock, "where the rubber meets the road, naturally! Greetings from The Rock. I appreciate everyone's kind words! Additionally, thanks for the warm welcome I have received since I have been communicating with all of you at Car Junkie!

We are creating a very user-friendly map that I will post early next week regarding venue entry for credential day [which I will get from Family Events] as well as logistics for parade staging and exit.

I and my team will be at the fairgrounds [by HRPT check-in] for continued parade registration. I will have someone posted at the entry gate. I just signed-off on directional signage that will be strategically placed east and west on Roosevelt to help guide all. Our hotel properties will be furnished with city tear-off maps, as well as the parade map guiding you from the fairgrounds to our the park. This should be helpful for everyone including those that would rather cruise directly to the park and cheer on the parade.

PLEASE NOTE: I want to make sure the parade is enjoyable and not "why did I think this would work!" Stratgically, if the parade numbers are quite large, we will stage "two lanes" - very easy to do with the police escort and the parade route streets shut down to local traffic. Also, although the destination [park] for the parade will hold many vehicles, the parade vehicles will enter the park first to make sure we have a continued flow of traffic. Two entires will be used for park access. Once the parade is in - we will welcome and assist all other participtants with parking.

Thank you Carol. Great information and it sounds like you really have your act together! Being a newbie to the PT it is reassuring to know that I won't be flying blind trying to find my way around. Reduces the yelling at the wife factor too ;D
