it kinda sounds like you are saying that the city/police isn't necesarily discouraging burn outs...just that they will not be responsable if something happens.
don't worry. none of use would dare do burnouts in the street

A few years ago, several people got killed while standing beside a city street in Selmer, TN. The city was sued and the lawsuits are still not settled.

Nothing is this world is completely safe, but it can be made safer. I'm all for a 'safer' burnout situation. Last year was upsetting. Sure in the end it was fun, but that's only because no one got hurt. Those that were there know I actually went out into the street and told folks to back away. There were literally children in strollers in front of cars only a few inches away. It was ridiculous that no one could anticipate what can will happen when things go wrong.

I even walked up to a guy from the Fire Dept. and told him if one of those cars breaks an axle etc.. it will go into the crowd and you will have injuries and perhaps loss of life. I asked him to at the very least help move some folks off the street and give the cars some room. He shrugged his shoulders and basically implied it wasn't his problem.

Sounds like that was a union fireman! And I was looking forward to the burnouts, maybe in the hotel parking lots

I think im am spoiled by the mopar nats that come near me every year. They have 100's of people and like 10-50 cars at any given time giving them helland the cops pretty much just watch

saw somewhere that royal purple is doing a burnout pit in either one of the OK stops or Arlington. Lets see what that brings?

Sad, but it doesn't suprise me. Last year, I got caught up in it and it could have been a whole lot more fun with just a little bit more crowd control.

It was just way too crazy with parked cars lining both sides and a wall of people standing in and around them with drunk idiots running across the street and touching cars. I think everyone forgot that cameras can zoom-in as people were just a few feet away. I also didn't appreciate the jackasses who came right up to my door egging me on. I should do a what?? No really?? I sure heck wouldn't have had a clue what to do with you not standing right over my car. Keep the F... back and I'll give you a show.

wasn't that event a ProMod (squirlier than an altered and more HP) with an alleged drunk at the wheel? kinda extreme circumstances.

It was a pro mod. At Cruisn' the Coast, burn outs are done between concrete barriers or with police supervision.
