    Okay Jim who did that?
It's not the destination, but the journey and the friends you make along the way that counts.

I enjoy the two-lane roads, the little towns, the old folks homes with people sitting out watching, the crowds at the 4 way stops, the kids with their parents sitting in the yard or front porches, massive crowds that gather at the gas stations, the veiw of hot rods in my mirror and in front of me, the hy-way workers standing around (I guess you can see that on the interstate too)...
anyway, the trip is the "Power Tour"
I only punch my time card so I can be at the Long Hauler thing and that even isn't a big deal. Aside from the drive I do love the mini-car shows at the hotels and the burn-out contests!
Married to Tara, that makes me the TARA-fied 1!

I did the tour by the directions. I did'nt car too much for the long interstate day from Madison to Miami. That was a long day. But on a side note to those that did not take the exit to Carthage cause of the road closed sign missed a helluva detour. That was as much fun as the run on OK-10 along the Illinios River. The tour is what you make of it. Only you can be the judge of how much fun you have. Looking forward to next year already. Just have to find a car, build it and test it. I had fun in the Red 92 Z28, I'm thinking early second gen Camaro next year.

I thought that the directions this year took us on some great roads. I have to admit that leaving Paul's Valley we took the interstate, but only because we've been to DFW area too many times now with the tour and the traffic is crazy there. The traffic/drivers in the Detroit area aren't much better either!

Sorry I didn't get to know any of the other Long Haulers who bypassed the route.

The HRPT means something different to each person. For me the most important is the friends I meet, the country side, and waving back at all the small town families watching the caravan.

I can drive the freeways any weekend and attend a car show.
I couldn't have said it better!

we did the 1st day and it took us almost 8 hours. the time isnt really the issue it was the fact that my car wouldnt idle. sitting in stop and stop traffic with a car that wouldnt idle was NO fun. we run mostly interstate just for the fact that my car run fine down the road but sitting and idling was a pain. i installed FAST ez efi and they have no clue why it wont idle. i went to comp/fast tent every stop. i hope to have it fixed by next power tour and i will deffinatly do the route because we missed alot of sites running the interstate. i had a grreat time though.

Followed the route this year like always and did some additional route 66 driving. I like the folks who follow because they think i know where im going. oops u-turn again! I also once got lost about 300 ft from the hotel one day following cstwgn and 1956ny150. good stuff. If it was up to me Powertour would include two weeks of driving the route.

66 Was fun, Missouri county back road twisty's and the residential tour of Joplin, blowing past the Casino at Miami by 5 miles or so?? We also toured a very nice Country Club, Golf Course, Lake area near Afton, OK. These are just added bonuses. The only parts of PT Route we did'nt do was Warren to near Lansing and the Turnpike after Joplin, and maybe a couple of other short navigational blunders. Yes sometimes cars just file in behind thinking we actually knew where we were going. Good Fun!! Next year I'm following Mat and Steve.....

Ran to Muskegon the night before because we needed to have a hotel room before normal check in time on Sunday, so that was an interstate day. The run to Champaign turned into an interstate day since we didn't leave Muskegon until 1 PM. Followed the route to StL. We completely made our own route up from StL to Miami. Left Miami late to the hotel in Tulsa and did the Hallett stop so that was mostly interstate. Left Stillwater late to hotel in OKC so that was interstate again. Hit Glenn Goode's fiberglass on the way to Dallas so we had some adventures off the interstate there.

we were only able to run the route the last couple of legs due to multiple and finally catastrophic mechanical issues. Fsk did get to do a leg with Mike&Donna which she thoroughly enjoyed and I did one with Bruce that was way cool. The Tour is there for how you want or need to do it. The haters are just positvely

Guess I'm the minority. We do the route and by the 3rd day are only at the venue long enough to clock in, get our magnets and make a lap through the cars. The fun for us is the journey.
                              GM G-bodies, because I can't afford a 69 Camaro.

on the contrary, I think you will find you are in the majority.....the lines of cars on the route are proof of that. If Nadine could have kept a motor under the hood, I would have been right behind you.
