You guys are crazy.

You know Hot Rod and Family Events only have a basic idea of beginning and end based on money and what makes since. We've also learned only about 50% of the main stops are dialed in by SEMA (December). I assume finalization happens after new budget cycles.

Anyway, they're obviously going back to the Hot Rod roots for the 20th anniversary....or what I call home. LA, CA.

Where ever we go we'll be there and it's so FUN to start guessing now.

Well, if this year's route was Detroit to Dallas, (Mo-town to Moo-town) the Dallas to Charlotte run will be the "Sweet Tea Tour". HHmmm. I should go make some decals and t-shirts.

This is one of the reasons why I stopped participating in the HRPT for the past 5 years. The USA has a lot more to offer other than the midwestern states for sightseeing. Bring on Colorodo, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Montana or even New England. I miss the people I have met in the past, but if I am going to shell out over $3,000 for a vacation, lets see something new.

I agree with you completely.

I've only done two PT's but I've had enough of the mid west and east coast. i spent 10 years traveling the mid weat with the military and the last 18 years living on the east coast.

I don't buy the excause there aren't any cities big enough to support a venue or that sponsors won't go west. The sponsors are like just about everyone else here, they'll got where the tour goes. Family Events wants to keep it in their 'back yard' and Hot Rod completely supports that reasoning. i've talked to Hot Rod about a western tour and they are completely against it saying sponsors and participants would not support it. Of course the participants won't support it. Because for the last 13+ years it's been an east coast tour and why would they want that to change?

As for the excause that the vendors wouldn't support it, I've travelled the last two tours with one of the vendors at the tour and they WANT the tour to go west.

So until we as 'participants' star making some noise about having the tour go west AND get Family Evevts out of the picture, it's never ggoing to happen.

If Family Events is calling the shots, then the name of the tour should be renamed FAMILY EVENTS HOT ROD TOUR. There are plenty of West Coast cities that can handle the amount of participants if one looks hard enough. A venue in Sacramento, California, could be CalExpo which hosts the state fair as well as many other events throughout the year. I think the main reason why it doesn't go further west is because of the time involved for Family Events employees. I don't think they want to be three weeks away from home. As I see it, if west coast participants are willing to drive a week each way to participate, why can't those involved with putting on the tour do the same? If Hot Rod Magazine and Family events wants my money, then they should treat their participants equally.
