  • Way home to Chicago

Whats everyone's plans for coming home.

I am not long hauling so i am leaving early Saturday morning and heading for Asheville, NC and then doing the (Blue Ridge Parkway)BRP over to the 74 (Smokey Mountain Express way) , then going North on 28 to 143 into Robbinsville, NC around the north side of the Santeetiah Lake. Then plan on taking 129 to Yellow Creek Road back east to 28. Then north to the Fontana Dam top and bottom lookouts. Then will get back on to 129 and do the Tail of the Dragon (at least once). Then will take Happy Valley Rd up into Knoxville and will bunk there for the night.

Here is a link of my Google Map

Let me know if anyone has similar ideas?

I'm hoping that the HRPT "official route" from Chatanooga to Concord includes Smokey Mtn Expressway. It's a really nice drive. If you have the time take 143 from Robbinsville to Tellico Plains (aka The Cherohala Skyway). 50 miles with no services but the views are great and the elevation changes from 5300' to 800'. Also, 441 has been re-opened.
