Sounds beautiful, Doug. How many are making the trek?

Today is day 6 of the tour. Got up before sunrise to go do some photography of the Grand Tetons reflecting in the calm waters of the Snake River. What a site! Cold temps and warmer water resulted in steam coming off the river water. Great for photos, not great for good sleep.

Took the others back after breakfast to the same location and some scenic driving, Iian was walking down to the rivers edge to shoot some photos when a snake came out of the grass across the front of his feet. And he did not even get a photo of the snake so we'd believe him. Came across herds of bison, pronghorn antelope and a few deer and elk.

Weather is a perfect 67 degrees. Tomorrow we head up into Yellowstone for the final two days of the tour.

Great day of driving as we headed into Yellowstone today. Came across deer, elk, bison and moose. Took in some ranger presentations and had a great dinner at a 50's cafe in West Yellowstone. Went to the IMAX Theater afterwards for a show on Yellowstone.

Tomorrow its up early again for photography in the Madison Basin and Geyser Basin. Photo'd extensively this afternoon grizzly and wolves at the Discovery Center. Great time, great driving terrain!

Awesome day in Yellowstone today. Took in some nice scenic drives up to Mammoth Hot Springs, good lunch and good Elk action. All of us had to run for our lives as a big male elk was trying to round up his harem. We all agreed we'd be okay because of the older gentleman that was standing with us. We could all out run him.

Had a big grizzly run across the road in front of the car. Was able to get a half dozen photos before he ran into the trees.

Tomorrow its time to head for home. For those that could not make the tour, we were a very small event but we had a hell of a good time. If we do it next year, hopefully some of you can make it.

          Doug

Wow, its 4 pm Ca time, just got home from the Western Scenic Tour. I left Yellowstone this morning at 1:10 am and drove straight through. Got to go back to work in the morning.

We had a great time and are in discussions for next years event. I am looking for some major sponsors if anyone has ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Arrived back from Yellowstone about 6 PM Monday - Doug you beat us home!
Reliable 1969 Buick wagon ran fine during the entire tour with just a couple of minor issues - lost the drivers side piece of windshield chrome in the desert coming to Vegas and a small fuel leak in Yellowstone was quickly fixed, but other than that no car problems.
Can't wait to have pictures developed (yes we have an old camera) to see the results of my newly learned photography skills.
Thanks Doug for all your hard work and perseverance in organizing and leading a fantastic trip -- scenery was absolutely awesome -- combined with great company was an unbeatable combination. Looking forward to future Western Scenic Tours. Iain and Janet (2008 Western Scenic Tour "Long Haulers")

Thanks Iain. You and Janet were real troopers (although you guys would not get up while it was still light to go into Yellowstone for the sunrise photos).

I was impressed with your car as were many of the tourists. I forgot to tell everyone that at one of our stops in Zion National Park, after parking our cars a tour bus pulls up with a boatload of french tourists. All they wanted to do was to take pictures of our cars, the engines and photos of themselves in front of the cars. It was crazy funny!
