I have not tried any of those in the Charlotte area. I recommend Lancasters BBQ in Mooresville or Punchy's on 29 north of Z Max a few miles. R&R BBQ is also close to the speedway.

        Thanks!
Stopping later today at Black Dog Smokehouse & Ale in Urbana, Il. Found it on last years PT, we liked it so much we're making a small detour to get some of their BBQ.

There are a bunch of What-A-Burger old time shake and burger places in the Concord and Mooresville area. The milk shakes are awesome...

The closer you get to Texas the more What-a-Burgers you see......when I was into mini trucks and stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso it was our favorite late night hangout

                      The Beacon

The Beacon in Spartenburgh is awsome. They have had every president just about in the past 50 years stop and eat there. They are a great hamburger joint.
I will warn you though be ready to order when u step up to the counter. The guy is not going to wait long on you...it's part of the place. The oinion rings are out of this world.
Well the last time I was there several years ago.

I can't say for the BBQ king in Charlotte but the one in Lincolnton NC is good!
Retirement is better than I thought!

Chop House Burger in Texas is good, but expect long lines and eating by your car, cause there is little space to sit down.

And "The Penguin" isn't the same as it was. They fired most of their staff from back then and they moved across the street and opened a better joint. Still wasn't bad though.

We went to Jakes. It was nice.

South 21 in Charlotte is awesome,as well as The BBQ King. Both are DEFINITELY worth a stop.

The Beacon is great as well! It's great to have Mr. J.C. call out your order! And yes,you better be ready when you get up there.
