I'm close enough to Knoxville or Bristol. The biggest problem with Knoxville is what to do at the venue. Most likely, it will be held at Chilhowee Park(NSRA-South event is held there). It would be very similar in atmosphere to the AR State Fairgrounds we were at this year. Bristol would make a better venue for the fact we could drag race, and possibly drive on the roundy round track. The problem with Bristol, though, is after talking to a member of HOT ROD crew, they said that too many people complained about the twisty mountain roads getting to Bristol back in '09. Now, I did the Somerset to Bristol leg in '09 and had no problems with the roads. I actually thought they were very tame. The roads from Concord to Bristol, however, are much more curvy, and steep, so if they complained about the 09 route, they'll certainly cry about that route.

Personally, I love mountain roads. I'm only 45 min. from US129(Tail of The Dragon) and have driven it many times. I actually almost got bored with some of the flat roads through Texas and Arkansas. Hwy 8 that we got rerouted onto after the log truck incident on our way to Hot Springs certainly had some redeeming qualities, though.

I live in Virginia, stay out of Virginia. It is the fun hater state. More speed traps than anywhere. Everyone runs radar, the state police, the county sheriff's department and the towns.

Chilhowee park is a great setting, plenty of room. But its kind of in a bad part of town and there aren't a ton of motels close by without going into down town. I think Bristol is the more logical stop map wise. Although there are even less motels close by there. Martinsville would be an interesting stop. Never been, but it would be cool for sure!

People complain about twisty roads? WTF?

Bristol in 2009 they let us run a few laps on the NASCAR track for $20 or $25. You had to leave early to get there before it was full though. It was totally awesome though. The pace car did 80, which isn't bad for such a short track. There were cars in my group that wouldn't keep up with the pace car even. And since they were pretty relaxed rules wise, when you passed the guys that weren't keeping up you could haul ass into a corner at whatever speed you were comfortable with. In a Lightning, getting on the gas in the middle of 3 and 4 does not leave you enough room to get enough speed to require you to lift for turn 1 What a rush that was. Plus drag racing at Thunder Valley, yeah, best stop ever. We're kind of iffy on going next year (like last year, we drove home through the a city on the following year's route, and I REALLY hate the Wisconsin Dells) but if Bristol is a stop, we're there.

They kind of implied when they announced the 3 stops for next year that other stops were pretty far along in negotiations and just didn't have ink on contracts yet. So, I would expect to hear the rest of the host cities sooner than later.

many, many hotels..................they are already raising the prices.. the season will just be starting, but not in full swing, cause school will just be out that week.
the large waterpark hotels stay busy almost all year.
i would watch for them to take reservations in a week or so and get them early....ones that can be cancelled...

my guess right now is that they may have the event at the casino south of the Dells. largest parking lot that i know of up there;but its just a guess.

look the dells up on google. very large vacation(tourist trap) area. plenty of restaraunts, shopping stuff, motels, etc.
