They're probably referring to the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois; they sit on opposite sides of the Mississippi, northwestern part of Illinois/northeastern part of Iowa.....

The Quad Cities is where the Mississippi river runs east and west and and where the river is crossed by interstate 80. Also the headquarters of John Deere.

I actually attended John Deere Jr. high school.
