I 40 Closed

A post on facebook that I 40 is closed from TN exit 451 to NC exit 20. Use I 81 & 26 as a detour. WLOS TV reports that I 40 will be closed Thursday June 5 to remove a rock slide and hopefully be open Friday morning.

That sucks for you guys coming that way. 81 and 26 is WAY out of the way. Considering the kind of trip your on, I'd look VERY seriously at heading across the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Assuming you don't hit bad traffic in Pigeon Forge and across the smokies, it only adds about an hour to the trip but its awesome roads and views.

Yeap! You could also backwards run part of the tour route and go through HotSprings, NC.

Yeah, it can be a nightmare at times. Especially mid day.

Its a nice route, IF you can get through Pigeon Forge. And you don't get stuck behind a lane gobbling, gas guzzling, MOTORHOME across the smokies
