  • Power Tour parties

Ok, now that we know the route, someone needs to volunteer to host the parties. I nominate Big Dave for the Finish Line Party, since he lives near Baton Rouge. Anybody live in or near Madison, WI, who would be willing to host the Starting Line Party? Also, who is in charge of the Veteran's Visit this year?

What about a party at a local volunteer fire dept near the start? Convince them to host it, handle food and make some money.

I am willing on hosting a party, (Terry and Vic came for one last year) however i am 2 hours from Madison, WI. We could hold the VA show here at the local VA Hospital and Great Lakes Navel Base that are next to each other, and then from there Party at my house, and all shoot up to Madison together on Saturday Morning?

      Or

We could all head down here on Saturday Night and then catch the route on Sunday morning.

I am in Round Lake, IL and my house is open to either of these ideas if there is enough interest, I have plenty of couches, beds, air mattresses, and floor space for who ever wants to stay too.

There are hotels within 15 minutes of the house, and Great Lakes Navel Base/VA Hospital is about 20 minutes from my house too.

Here is a map of where round lake is compared to Madison, Champaign, Chicago, Milwaukee. We don't have the Downtown Chicago Traffic.

Is a great idea, Lars. But we need someone in the area to find a fire dept. and talk to them.

Dave, we would all be willing to pitch in and help. If you can find a venue and provide a grill or something, we could all bring something. And surely you could find someone to bring some jambalaya, gumbo, and mud-bugs!!!!!! And don't forget the boudin!

Noticed on another thread that the only veteran's home in Madison has very limited parking. Would anybody be interested in doing the vet's visit at the end of the tour instead of the beginning? Maybe we could find out if there is one near the venue in LA.

I've been there a couple of times, went through there last year. Matt Kenseth (NASCAR driver) is from there and has a museum in town!

In 2012 we did a fund raiser for the local VFW @ the Quaker Steak & Lube in Middleton since the VA lacks parking & there isn't another VA facility close enough to make it possible.

That's the year we missed because of Vic's accident. Might be a possibility for this year.

That would be tough to do Teri. Everyone is usually in a hurry to hit the road & head home after the long hauler event.
