              • We sleep cheap considering you are in the room for 8 hours or less.

St Louis: Americas Best Value Inn Fairview Heights/St. Louis East $76.83

                Champaign IL: Motel 6 $46.79

We tend to eat well to make up the difference.

My wife does the reservations and does not come on the tour. She was a expo/meeting planner for a fortune 5 company in a past life(retired)

                • We used to do that too. But we got tired of sleeping on sheets that looked like someone had used for the old "Rent-by-the-hour-rental. And the room with the frat party going on right outside the door. Then there was the room that smelled like camel dung. And considering the managers nationality the joke became that he quickly removed the camel from the room while we were checking in. We still talk about that one.

Remember the room with the pile of dog terds at the end of the sofa. We do!! It's funny now. It wasn't then. And on & on & on. Yes, you can demand a different room, if they have one left. If not, then you wasted the time to make the reservation & are down the road looking for something else. Or you are dealing with a minimum wage night manager with a preloaded crappy attitude because they came to work expecting an easy night. And then there was the night that some friends of ours were bit (all over) by bed bugs in their sheets. That was a 7-10 day recovery for them. So we decided that we would just try to make reservations to stay at places that we were familiar with. Or use HIE. That way we get a decent breakfast & points that do not expire. But hey, that's just us.

                  • Anyone staying at Palace Casino in Biloxi? Curious if anyone has stayed there and what kind of place it is? Being it is not a chain, I'd like to get some feedback from anyone who has stayed there. Thx in advance!

                          • After PT 2009 & 2010 staying in cheap motels I had enough of dirty beds, smelly rooms and grimy showers....... All I stay in now is HIE, great rooms that are clean and don't smell, really good beds, clean bathrooms and of course, a great breakfast is included! Talk about points, I have stayed 6 nights free the last 4 years....

                            • 2010 and 2012 PT we had ok rooms. No bad experiences.
In fact only one hotel in the St. Louis area had no PT people staying there.

                              • I use Wyndham as much as possible. Wide variety of chains and costs. Haven't had a bad one yet. Plus the points come in handy for free rooms.
