Re: NHRA winter nationals @ pomona
Shaun,
Daphne and the kids went yesterday and got every autograph known to man. I'll be there tomorrow as you know (Shaun and his lovely wife Jen are watching the kids for us. I think it's Shaun's way of putting of the inevitable. If ours are bad he won't have to have any for a while...hmmm.) and can't wait. The World Finals this weekend, and Winter Nats in Feb have always been my favorite National Events since the closing of Fremont when I was a kid. If anyone else is going, look for me. I'll be in a CarJunkieTV.com shirt!

Re: NHRA winter nationals @ pomona
Well I was going to fix my exhaust leak tomorrow. But I may as well contribute to LA's smog problem and drive up. It's only about 90 minutes from me.
Just look for the x-body with the smoke trail, that's me!
Chad: are you going to have extra shirts? I'd gladly pay for one to contribute to the site.

As Chad said the kids and I spent the day there yesterday and they had a blast getting their NHRA hats signed. They love the smell of nitro and burning rubber! Yes..they are sickos just like us! We even got to go hang with Tony Schumacher in his pits....he's not our favorite by an means but he definitely elevated his status by giving us a little preferential treatment. ;)

Jim Thoren
Minneapolis, Mn
Grew up around dad's cars and his racing 3/4 midgits (small open-wheel 2 or 4 cyl), and I guess this infuenced me. My 1st car at 15 was a showable '23 T Bucket (2 jobs after school), then 2 years of tech school auto mechanics, 1 year auto parts class, and in auto parts business someway or another for 25 years. Bought a 1:18 scale die cast musclecar at lunch one day, and ended up becoming one of the main players in the 1:18 die cast collecting world. Have been full time 10 years now, 5 of us working it (www.Supercar1.com) and sell lots of toy cars to buy big cars. It's work, but fun work. I'm a 10+ time Power Tour participant, 2 time drag week attendee (non-competitive), love cars. Love this new site already!

Re: NHRA winter nationals @ pomona
Daphne and I had tons of fun on Sunday. Made some new CarJunkie friends, and saw great yearend racing action. NHRA had a special salute to Wally Parks that was great as well and included many influential hotrods, racecars and drivers. It was a touching moment that makes you think about the influence Wally has had on all our lives. A very cool deal indeed.
One other thing...
Jeg kicked Greg Anderson's ASS!!! It was cool. Okay I'm done now. Just got a little excited. Won't do it again...today.
