Colossus Cleveland: This 1,000hp Naturally Aspirated Cleveland Ford Is A Hardcore Work In Progress

Man, this is a day of cool engines! This time we are taking a look at an Australian built Cleveland Ford that makes 1,000+ naturally aspirated horsepower. Higgins Race Heads is responsible for the cylinder heads and induction on top of this engine along with the camshaft selection, the killer valve covers, and engineering the whole package. With more than 14:1 compression, 465ci, a big honking solid roller cam, and peak power coming way up in the rev range, this is not a street engine. No one is claiming that it is. What this is really, is an engineering exercise to develop hardcore parts for hardcore racers and motorports applications. Higgins builds incredible stuff and not just for Cleveland engines. They work on all the popular platforms you can think of.

As we have often said, in the era of the power adder, how awesome it is to see an engine that makes all the power with none of the help. That’s nothing to be negative toward power adders but rather more to be impressed with the technology that exists and the knowledge that exists allowing talented engine builders to create monster power like this. So cool!
