Buck McCoy is the Drag Week veteran known for bringing out a barn-fresh find to the track and proceeding to drop jaws with each and every launch. Whether it’s the four-door Buick or the bubble top Pontiac, McCoy would tout the car as a barn find that he barely turned the wick up on and would have all sorts of fun playing the hayseed card throughout the whole week. If this Plymouth ‘Cuda isn’t a project of his, it should be, because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a car that would fit the gig better. Barracudas are fearsome fish that are sleek, fast, and covered in salt water. The same thing can probably be said for this particular 1972-74 ‘Cuda. Little is known about the car, except that the plate is Arizona and it’s making this pass at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The formerly blue Plymouth (squint a bit, you’ll see it) looks bad, but if LVMS allowed it to run, it must be solid. The best part of this picture? You just know that there’s a whole throng of Mopar nuts who are ready to restore this ‘Cuda to showroom perfect condition. We’re all for cleaning up the body and fixing or replacing the rusty bits, but having a little fun with a rough project car should never be passed up. What would be awesome is if this ‘Cuda had a transplanted Hemi and four-speed in the car. Imagine the fun they could have on a test and tune night…

I want to see how Freiburger would react to this car in use. It’s right up his alley.
