BlackTop Nationals comes to Witchita August 26-29, 2010

BangShift.com friend and supporter Jesse Powell spends his days promoting Aeromotive Fuel Systems to the hot rod, racing, and street rod worlds. For the past year Jesse has spent his weekends helping a couple of friends finalize plans for what they hope will be the automotive event all others aspire to be. The BlackTop Nationals was dreamed up to be the ultimate four-day weekend event for the motorsport enthusiast. “We started the BlackTop Nationals to create an event unlike any other in the country” Co-founders, Rick Nuckolls and Frank Upton said.

The cool thing about the BlackTop Nationals, to be held in Wichita, Kansas, is that it isn’t just for muscle car guys or street rod guys. It caters to anyone that is into custom cars, trucks, or motorcycles. And while static car shows are certainly a major part of the weekend, participants will also get to be part of several cruises and get the chance to win some killer prizes. $100,000 worth, as a matter of fact. Plus, for those of you interested in hitting the autocross, catching some good music, or enjoying an adult beverage, those options are available as well.

Here are all the details in the official BlackTop Nationals Press Release:

Wichita, KS – December 2009 – The BlackTop Nationals is proud to officially announce the schedule and lineup for the 2010 event. This coming August, the BlackTop Nationals, will bring 4 days of automobile and motorcycle events to America’s Heartland, Wichita Kansas. Starting on Thursday, August 26, up to 5,000 cars and trucks and as many 7,500 bikes will convene in Wichita to kick off an amazing four days of entertainment and camaraderie.

“We started the BlackTop Nationals to create an event unlike any other in the country.” Co-founders, Rick Nuckolls and Frank Upton said. After attending car shows for years, Rick and Frank saw a need for an event that would bring automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts of all kinds together to enjoy a passion for the all-American tradition of motorsports. On any given weekend, there are muscle car events, street rod shows, corvette shows, bike rallies and cruises all over the country. Frank and Rick wanted to bring all these people together to enjoy and appreciate the passion and hard work many of these people have put into there own projects.

More than just a weekend show, the BlackTop Nationals will feature a premier car and bike show with up to $100,000 in cash and prizes in more than 12 classes as well as 2 Cruise Nights down historic Douglas Ave. Relive the glory days when rodders like Darryl Starbird and Rob Holzman made draggin’ Douglas a weekend pastime.

Other events include a Concourse show on Saturday, open autocross, Drifting Exhibition, opening night Gala, Fashion, Home and Art Fair, Kids Zone, Manufacturers Midway, outdoor concerts and food and beer gardens. For the Motorcycles, the BTN will host the Fallen Heroes ride to honor those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, a Poker Run, slow drags, Hot Dog eating competition and even Vintage Flat Track Racing at 81 Speedway in neighboring Park City, Kansas.

The BlackTop Nationals is a basic concept with two objectives. One, to marry the many diverse interests shared amongst motorsport enthusiasts in one amazing, entertaining and family-friendly, 4-day weekend. Two, enhance the community and the industry we share by raising money for charities we believe in, providing a safe and fun environment for fans, enthusiasts and participants and by introducing the passion we share for motorsports to new enthusiasts.
