Enter the Blackwing: Cadillac Has Two Blackwing Sedans Coming And They’re Ready To Throw Down

(By Tom Lohnes) – The Cadillac Blackwing cars are about to come out and although they’re not carrying the Blackwing engine, they’re going to punch above their weight class in performance and styling.

The Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing are cars we know very little about but we know the essence of the program. The CT4-V Blackwing will be a world-class sports sedan, with upwards of 460 horsepower, a manual transmission, RWD, and all the performance goodies you can imagine. The CT5-V Blackwing though, is the one you want. With a detuned LT5 as its heart, the CT5-V Blackwing ditches the big, heavy, boat the last CTS-V was and goes back to its roots with a standard manual transmission, magnesium wheels, and possibly a coupe and wagon in the works.

Power from the standard LT5 is 755, but expect high 600s from this one. Like other high-power RWD sedans, getting power to the ground will be an issue, so some sticky tires will be employed to get the job done. Inside, the Blackwing cars will have aggressive racing seats up front, and some more bolstering in the back.

We don’t know what Cadillac is trying to do with these cars, but maybe trying for an American Sedan Nürburgring record could be one of the goals. I’m hoping the coupe and wagon come to production, so we can have a more sophisticated Charger and Challenger hellcat, plus the Magnum hellcat that never came to be.

And the damned Italians are going to kill the Chrysler brand when they’ve had a car that could compete with this? Drop the hellcat mill in the 300!!!
