Rough Start: A Sense Of Deja Vu With A 1978 Pontiac LeMans, But Cheap Entry Into Racing Could Be Yours!

Didn’t I just find one of these? Yes, I did, and I had to do a double-take and compare the eBay ad from a couple of days ago versus the Craigslist ad that I just found this afternoon. Effectively, they are the same car, a Pontiac A/G coupe that’s painted flat black and looks like it’s ready fight. This LeMans is currently without powertrain, so that gaping hole under the hood is a blank canvas for whatever you want to shove in. Personally, if you aren’t going to go Poncho power, go for a massive block…there’s enough room. Did every LeMans get the down-and-dirty treatment like this? If so…sweet!

At $1,000 purchased, the LeMans sounds too good to be true, and sure enough there is one hitch: the title is MIA. Due diligence would need to be performed, but you have to ask yourself if the effort is worth it. Honestly, the more we look at it, the more we are salivating. Even if you dumped in a slightly warmed small-block Chevy and called it a day, imagine rolling this black beast on a budget?

I’m always leary about buying a car without a title. In NC, this is common and always cheap! Unless the owner has an old registration and insurance card, I usually stay away from these cars even if it’s a smoking deal.
