The Perfect Pit Vehicle? This 1997 Metro Truck Conversion Could Be!

The Perfect Pit Vehicle? This 1997 Metro Truck Conversion Could Be!

We’ve often said that in lieu of a tricked-out golf cart or a pit bike, that if you are serious about running a crew vehicle as part of a drag race team setup, that you should look at something like a Chevrolet Spark. They are small enough to fit in the trailer and big enough to get license plates. They’ll push around a lightweight dragster all day long and can carry two in some kind of comfort all day long while sipping fuel like a pretentious Brit at tea time. But maybe your team understands the word “budget”. Or maybe you took one look at a Spark and threw up a little in your mouth. Don’t sweat it…we’ve found something else that will work just as well!

That’s right…it’s a Metro ute! Room in the back for tools, batteries, starter, and whatever else you need, and two seats up front. Has license plates, can be driven on the street, will push race car around. The styling isn’t sexy, but compare it to the Spark and suddenly, the Metro doesn’t look so bad, does it? Ok, that might be reaching a bit, but surely someone can find a use for a micro-truck. Right?

Wait a minute…is this Bangshift? This is not the usual crap. Thanks, my life is a little brighter…! 🙂

The proportions looks good with the roof – it just needs the back bumper/valance area to be extended back. It looks like it got rear-ended. You’d get more bed room as a bonus!

Sorry – I thought you meant a Leyland Metro for a moment!

Now a Metro 6R4 ute would make a much better pit vehicle than this little piece of Chevy crap…

bad idea. Weak driveline, it’s a 3 cylinder not the optional 4 cylinder. No torque, those motors have issues when driven easy.
