The Ultimate Family Wagon? This 757 Horsepower Tahoe Sounds Mean!

The Dyno Day at Sloppy Mechanics usually brings out some interesting creations, but none quite like this Tahoe. Earlier this week, I was sorting out whether or not a brand new Ram pickup could be a do-it-all kind of machine. Well, meet the answer to the question I’ve been asking. This Chevrolet Tahoe is a typical turbo LS build, and while it’s no sleeper (I don’t care what the video claims, nothing on drag radials with that kind of noise from the pipes is a “sleeper”) it is streetable, it is very potent, and we have to suspect that it might even be rather tame if…and only if…you can keep your foot off of the fun pedal. If FCA can get away with selling 707 horsepower off of the showroom floor in a four-door sedan, surely a full-size sports-utility packing just a tick more than that can handle daily duties, right?

Wow. Read that last sentence again. 757 horsepower handling daily duties. How long ago was it, again, where the number alone would’ve had guys laughing and calling BS, let alone the thought of it with plates on the street, fully legal?

Let’s get the kids up close to a car on a dyno…so when the motor/tranny grenades, they can feel the shower of hot oil and cast metal. Modern family.

John, that’s no different from the dimwitted morons that can’t watch a drag race from the grandstands. Yes, get right in the waterbox and then prove you have no situational awareness! If it wouldn’t be so bad for the track and the sport of drag racing overall, I’d love for someone’s foot to slip and just run over about forty of those losers.

The company’s producing turbos must be making a royal killing these days. Off topic, but I wonder how many cars/lite trucks come turbo’d these days without having to check off an option box? Ford has certainly jumped in with both feet…
