Ebay Find: A Questionably Legal 2010 Ford Focus RS For Sale In Vermont

Can’t wait for the new, made for the U.S. Market Ford Focus RS to hit the dealerships? Maybe you just want something you know your neighbors won’t have anytime soon, or really like green. Either way, we might have the car just for you…potentially. The car in question is a 2010 Ford Focus RS, in the pretty much standard issue neon green. It is for sale in Vermont for an eye-watering $35,000, and the seller is demanding full payment within five days. And you know what? They’ll get it, partially because this is a modified RS that has been hit with some go-fast goodies (turbo, waste gate, brakes and a ton more), but mostly because you normally cannot import these things. That’s right, the Focus RS isn’t twenty-five years old and is substantially different from any Focus we ever saw here in 2010 (for starters, this one has some power). So how did this happen?

From what we can discern from the paperwork that was put into the listing, the car was imported into the United States via Mexico, where they were sold. The seller claims that the car is fully legal and documented, and there is paperwork from Ford that explains that the car met safety and emission standards for the United States when it was sold new. The car currently is titled for Arizona, where Mexico-to-US importation happens often, but the actual legality of the car might be questioned by the state. Factory these things packed 304 horsepower and 325 ft/lbs of torque, but with the tweaks only a dyno test will show just how hot this hatch is. Provided, of course, that the new owner can afford it and can get it titled in their state.
