Rough Start: Buy A 1978 Ford Granada And Get Two Engines As Well!

My opinion of the Ford Granada is well-known here: nope. They are an over-dressed Maverick, which means that really, they are nothing more than a gussied-up 1960 Ford Falcon, from the “that ain’t a Mercedes front end, Mack” grille to the fuel filler port in the dead-center of the rear taillight panel that was great for allowing gasoline to come sloshing out…IF you had an engine under the hood that had the guts to make such an event possible. A lot of my hate stems from a dark purple beater my brother brought home with a six-cylinder that had at least one cylinder visibly moving from the gigantic hole in the block. A transmission falling from the mount to the dead-center of my chest didn’t help matters. But here we have a Granada coupe up for sale. Initial impressions: get past the banana cream yellow color and vinyl roof, and you have a decent body to work with. In fact, it’s one of the better Granadas I’ve seen in a minute. Under the hood is a six cylinder, probably a 3.3L, but…cue the Billy Mays Voice…”BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!”

granada2You not only get a 1978 Ford Granada with a perfectly acceptable six cylinder engine for the low, low price of $2,500, but you will also receive this builder Ford 302 small-block V8 that is just a few parts and a weekend engine-swap away from waking up that sleeping lump of pure Ford malaise. And if you hurry, we will also throw in a builder 351 Windsor block…it needs a little more work than the 302, but you’ll have money left over to throw at putting together a nasty little unit that is perfectly acceptable to shove into the Granada. Even the resident anti-Granada flag bearer of BangShift has to admit, that’s a hell of a deal!
