Rough Start: A Unibody Ford Pickup On Slot Mags…Tasty!

Rough Start: A Unibody Ford Pickup On Slot Mags…Tasty!

Ah, Las Vegas. Dry air, desert…car hunting paradise if there ever was one. From lots filled with project car material to the cable television fodder, the love of the car is alive and well here. Finding something interesting, unique and cool shouldn’t take that long, should it? What would you go hunting for? Something that would be a bit rat-packish, like a Caddy or a Lincoln? Nah…that would be a bit cliché. Time to get to digging…

Literally, took all of five seconds on Craigslist before this 1962 Ford unibody pickup came up on the radar. The unibody was available for three years on the fourth-gen F-series, which simplified body stampings…and brought up rumors that if you worked the truck too hard, that the doors would stick shut. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. It’s not perfect, but a 351 and slot mags…well, for a Rough Start budget, it’s fine for a desert-find truck. Get to cleaning and put the leftover $1,800 to good use.

Always liked the Unibody Fords and to think its affordable! That truck just oozes 70’s styling.
