Who In England Is Drag Racing A Richard Petty-Tribute Plymouth Superbird?

Who In England Is Drag Racing A Richard Petty-Tribute Plymouth Superbird?

Yes, this video is a couple of years old, but let’s face it: it’s not everyday you see any Plymouth Superbird doing a burnout, much less a Superbird done up as a tribute to Richard Petty’s 1970 NASCAR ride, and seeing all of that at England’s Santa Pod Raceway is nothing short of miraculous. The Plymouth looks well-done and sounds right, and if it’s the same car that we’ve seen elsewhere on YouTube, it’s packing one hell of a 472ci Hemi underneath that expansive hood. Unfortunately, when it comes to the actual run, we’ll just call the car “traction limited” and leave it at that. Surely even the driver of the Mustang that is racing knows that he got extremely lucky. Someone has to know a thing or two about this machine, since crowds flock to wherever one of these winged wonders appears, so if you’ve got any info for us, let us know!

Yeah I’ve owned this car for 6 years now since importing it from N Carolina as a Satellite. Took me 18 months to build and has a 472 hemi / manual shift 727. For sure that was one of its first runs and had terrible traction problems but now has a 9″ with a spool. The motor is currently being rebuilt for this season with much higher compression, ally heads, roller cam, single plane and dominator. Hope to be running low / mid 10’s at Gary’s Picnic in May. Look out for me also at American Speedfest at Brands Hatch in June where the car will be up against genuine historic Nascar racers

Bryan, almost everyone knows that a Gen II Hemi is a 426, not a 427.

How can you defame, (or just mis-name) such an important engine? 😀
