Creativity Knows No Bounds: Anyone Want A Mud Truck Made From A Crown Victoria?

Creativity Knows No Bounds: Anyone Want A Mud Truck Made From A Crown Victoria?

Ever since moving to Kentucky at the tail end of 2013, I’ve been quick on the draw with jokes about the state. Some aren’t deserved. Some are just quick jabs, like the Kentucky Fried ‘Possum T-shirt that my wife hates (and everybody else seems to love). Then there is that one sliver of truth that fuels every last overstatement, exaggeration, and legendary story, and I’m pretty sure that’s what Scott Renshaw sent me earlier tonight.

At some point, this was a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. No, really. This was a cop car…before the Sawzall got worked to within an inch of it’s life, before the rear-mounted radiator and the American flag rollcage, before the 35″ mud tires, this was the same thing you can find security officers driving around mall parking lots. And it still has license plates. Imagine, just for one second, trying to get plates attached to this thing in Massachusetts or Connecticut. Someone at the DMV would have a major medical issue just at the sight of this thing parked outside. Here, it’s just another day of the week, an eye-raiser on your way into town.

Never change, Kentucky. Never change.
