Dodge Releases 2015 Charger Pursuit, Because Cops Need A Racecar Too

Well, look on the bright side: There’s no mistaking those headlights. Cops get an upgraded Charger Pursuit for 2015, complete with all of the little tweaks that police officers have been suggesting for the last couple of years. While Pursuits still come with the Pentastar V6 (292hp/260 ft/lb) and the 5.7 Hemi V8 (370hp/390 ft/lb), the similarities end there. Unlike the civilian models of the Charger, the Pursuit will come with the NAG-1 five-speed automatic instead of the TorqueFlite-8, based on requests from police departments across America. No worries, since the Hemi cars can hit 0-60 in about six seconds and both the V6 and V8 versions get about 26mpg (the Hemi keeps the MDS cylinder shutoff system.) The Hemi cars can also get all-wheel drive, while it’s rear-drive only for the V6 models.

Among upgrades from the 2014 models are more improvements to the brake cooling system, including new air ducting, a strengthened front suspension setup for the RWD models, and an interface system that utilizes the Charger’s screens in the gauge cluster and radio area in sync with the computer systems and radio equipment the cars receive for police duty.

All we know: We want one after they cycle out (RWD Hemi, thanks) and we never want to be on the wrong end of one. Especially if some municipality manages to figure out how to order a Hellcat-equipped Pursuit.
