It’s the battle of the biggest truck out there for every Tom, Dick and Jane who gives half a crap about such petty nonsense. Who has the biggest truck, the largest cab, the most torque, whatever. Look, if you are dead-nuts serious about having tugboat torque and the ability to haul pretty much whatever you want wherever you want, you wouldn’t be looking at light-duty pickup trucks, you’d be looking in the semi-truck market. These things were designed to do exactly what the guy up the street with the King Ranch thinks his truck can do, without breaking a sweat, all day long, for millions of miles. Worried about having to stop all of the time? Have you ever seen the range on a semi truck? Even factoring in the dismal fuel economy (think high single digits at best) you’ll be able to stretch your legs plenty across the country before fuel becomes a concern. You’ll probably have to sleep first. And that’s no issue either, since this 1979 Kenworth K100 is a sleeper cab truck!

No doubt having a fresh Cummins 400 with just 60,000 on the clock is a good thing, and the 4.11 gears in the tandems out back will put that power to use. The tires are new, the brakes are new, the fuel tanks are new, and the air conditioning is new. And on the subject of “new”, the paintwork and chrome look sparkling, too. You might have a bit of a time convincing your partner that shifting through a 13-speed box is the ideal way to go about roaming the country, but trust us, it works, especially once you get shifting without a clutch down pat. Consider it learning a lost skill set, one that you can flaunt when your neighbors start to show their jealousy. What would you hang off of the back: an RV trailer? A car hauler?

A little rich for my blood but that is a nice K-whopper! Always liked the cabovers over conventional.

Back in “the day” you couldn’t find an owner operator that wanted one. Strange how times have changed. I bought one in 1997 with a dump trailer behind it for 10K. Should have kept it for awhile.

Interesting seller. Let’s see, do I want a dress, a pair of pants, or a KW
Beautiful truck, but I agree with the others, the price seems to be a bit optimistic
