2014 Boonesborough Boogie Nationals: Street Rods And Only Street Rods From The Show

2014 Boonesborough Boogie Nationals: Street Rods And Only Street Rods From The Show

(Words and Photos by Doug Gregory) – If you’ve read any of my articles you know I like all kinds of stuff, but have a special liking for the Pre-49 stuff. This show gave everyone a nice mixture of things to see. While listening to the team of Charlie and Carolyn Napier (DJ to the cars) spin the tunes and keep us all informed, we were able to stroll around and see everything from rat rods to what looked like stuff fresh out of the barn to profile rods that didn’t have a single stock part on it.

I did an informal survey of the cars in attendance and of all the categories of stuff in attendance, Ford rules the street rod genre. That’s not to say Mopars, GMs, and others weren’t there because they were.

Some highlights-

A slick and sleek black deuce roadster that had that certain something which grabs your attention.

Black ’40 Ford that to me is the epitome of the breed. Right stance, correct wheels, cool interior, etc.

Super cool Austin ProStreeter that I didn’t get to check out much.

Silver ’37 Chevy 5-window that got me with the simplicity and overall look that was classy.

Enjoy this gallery and hopefully there will be more to come.

For clarity the silver coupe is a 38 Chevy, note the different grille from the 37 sedan in your lead photo. (sorry couldn’t help myself)

Incorrectly labeled. Guilty as charged. I try to pride myself on knowing most pre-49 stuff, but I am far from an expert. When cars are dead stock I can usually get the year, but since most of what I see are modified it gets muddied. I do know the difference between a ’37 and ’38 Chevy….I just didn’t.
