You know the term Warm California Sun? Well, we had plenty of that this weekend when Daphne, Cole, and I jumped into Daphne’s 1966 Bel Air Wagon and rolled to the Edelbrock Car Show which was at Vic’s Garage in Torrance. We were cruising low and in style thanks to the Ridetech Air Ride, and thank god for the TCI 700r4’s overdrive which had us cruising well above the speed limit. As we got into Torrance, the air really changed as you could feel the moisture and cool breeze from the ocean. With our windows down and arms hanging out, there really weren’t many people in the world that were doing better than we were at that moment. Old cars rule.
When we pulled into the show and grabbed a spot, to hang out with the other cool kids at the Edelbrock Car Show, there were a lot of people milling around. This show is a couple blocks in each direction, and every parking lot on the streets were full as well. We laid out the wagon, grabbed our stuff, and I started jamming photos. We saw a ton of cars we loved, ran into several friends, and got to walk through Vic’s Garage which is just awesome. Cole said upon entering “I wish we had a shop like this…”. Yeah, me too buddy, me too.
One of our favorites at the show was the cool Ford below. Look closely. The big block Ford under the hood, Dominator, single plane intake, drag radials, and roll bar DO NOT FIT IN THIS CAR! You expect someone to build one into a Custom, not a drag car, and we love the owner for doing it wrong. LOL We talked to him for a minute at the show and can tell you that some testing is underway and then this thing will be a serious street terror.
After the show we headed south, which is the wrong way technically, and cruised a combination of PCH/Ocean/PCH all the way to Huntington Beach. We stopped along the way for some Mexican food, walked around HB and did some flip flop shopping, and got our picture taken several times as the wagon got lots of attention on Main Street in HB. Another hour drive home, with Cole passed out in the back seat, and we’re already trying to figure out where to road trip for Mother’s Day!
Below is the link for the first gallery of 4 that we’ll run from the show this week. Check it out.
