Bonneville Speed Week Coverage: It’s Damp, But Fast, And We Have More Photos!

Bonneville Speed Week Coverage: It’s Damp, But Fast, And We Have More Photos!

With rain showers blowing through the Bonneville Salt Flats on Friday night, it made for a soupy morning on parts of Long Course One, and also on parts of the return and access roads, but that hasn’t kept us from racing. Long Course One is closed for today in order to make sure it is dry, hard, and smooth for the 400+ mile per hour streamliners that are getting ready to run out here. It will be open tomorrow, but in the meantime Long Course Two, Short Course 3, and Short Course 4 are all open and cars are racing.

Day one of Bonneville is always a little slow feeling because the drivers meeting precedes all racing for the week and doesn’t start until 9:30 am Salt Time so cars don’t start running until after 10. BangShift got onto the salt around 8:30am and got ourselves all setup with our badges, vest, and press stickers and then hit the pits to check out Lee Sicilio’s 300mph Dodge Daytona. We shot a few teaser photos for you, along with other cool pit shots, and some stuff from the staging lanes. We’ll have more up tonight, and throughout the next few days, plus video from Lee’s car and more.

Look at that! I spy a 68 Warwick yellow Holden Monaro there, the one with the Marilyn number plate on it. Fellow Bangshift members on the other side of world would like to be kept up to date with that one if you’ve got time Chad.
