Somernites Photo Coverage: Weird, Unique, Interesting, And Diverse Rides From The Fall Somernites Cruise

Somernites Photo Coverage: Weird, Unique, Interesting, And Diverse Rides From The Fall Somernites Cruise

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – If you like diversity in build styles and marquees then this one is for you.  In here we’ve got Jaguar, Morris, BMW, Studebaker, Scion, Anglia, Opel, Oldsmobile, Buick, Willys, Mercury, DeSoto, Plymouth, and a few others.  We’ve also got a few shots of some stuff available in the swap meet that actually sits in two different areas of the event.  My least-favorite is likely the 3rd-gen firebird with the nose and tail of a ’69 grafted on.  One of my favorites would be the green phone booth T that even had air conditioning.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with AC.

The Big-block Anglia was super clean and the Red ’34 B/alterted coupe gets the win for having a receiver-hitch luggage carrier and using it.  Yeah – it wasn’t trailered.  We even saw a great example of Edsel’s finest.  What’s not to like when you see this much effort and enthusiasm being put forth in these cars.  Much goodness.  Enjoy.

Those pics have more diversity than the rainbow coalition. That 3rd gen firebird is very “interesting.” All they need now is a little AMC in the mix and they’re golden.

You know I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the Firebird doesn’t look all that bad, proportion-wise. I think if we could see it completed and painted… I dunno. Maybe. Kinda like a Hot Wheels car.

That Firebird’s coolness ends with the taillights. although they had a good start with the bumper. Somebody needs to finish it!
