Tick tock…tick…tock. That’s the sound of the clock counting down to the start of Speed Week 2018 which will happen this Saturday. BangShift has loved covering Bonneville as hard and fast as we’ve been able to since our first year of existence. This marks 10 years on the salt for us and while we’re not going to spend a bunch of time dwelling on that fact, round numbers are fun and this is a bit of a cool anniversary for us.

Here’s the story. The salt is better than it has been in years, literally. The advance track prep teams have been raving about how hard and consistent it is. This is a marked departure from years past when chuck holes and weak salt were prohibiting big numbers from being thrown down with regularity. There will be 4 courses this year of varying lengths and we’re going to bring you as many stories as we possibly can from each of them. Chad and I will be there, our pal Mike Galimi will be with us for his first visit to Bonneville ever. It’ll be fun to experience that with him.

The entires are up as well. This is a good thing as more than 500 bikes, cars, trucks, and whatever else you can dream up will be driving their brains out for a week in the hopes of making personal bests, records, and history at the mecca of speed.
