AFCO Rolls Out New Heat Exchanger For 2012-1014 Camaro ZL1s – Lower Coolant Temps 25-Degrees – Bolts In

AFCO Rolls Out New Heat Exchanger For 2012-1014 Camaro ZL1s – Lower Coolant Temps 25-Degrees – Bolts In

One of the cool things about the Camaro ZL1 outside of the blazing performance, humongous amount of horsepower, and relative luxury you experience it all in is the engine packaging. The supercharger is stacked right on an intercooler and the whole thing is designed to be as tight and compact as possible. While this setup obviously works well, hot rodders know how to make stuff better and the crew over at AFCO has come up with a way for you to bolt in a heat exchanger to make your intercooler even more effective which will result in more horsepower potentially by a bunch. The company says that this piece will lower the temp of the coolant that flows through the intercooler by some 25 degrees meaning that it will do a better job, meaning the air will be cooler and more dense, meaning you can put more fuel to it, meaning that you’ll make more power. That’s good math right there.

In typical AFCO fashion, these things are built like works of industrial art and they are designed to bolt into your car. The company estimates install time at two hours or less and retail on the piece is below 500 bucks whether you want it in black or satin finish. All the details and specs for the piece are on AFCO’s great website. Click on the image of the hear exchanger below to visit the site and to learn more about this cool new piece.

Heh, like a ZL-1 really even needs more power. I drove one and barbeque’d those 305-series Michelins from a 30 roll.

I can safely say that that is one car I could drive bone-stock and be perfectly happy with. Silly blown V8 horsepower? Check. Loud exhaust with perfect backrap? Check. Suspension smarter than me? Check. Hell, even the factory wheels look great.
