There are few environments more harsh than that faced by high winding engines on dirt tracks. MAHLE knows this and that is why they have released new box in box pistons for 360ci sprint car engines. Incorporating many of the design elements that other MAHLE products have been known for over the years along with new innovations and engineering to insure that these pistons go the distance, sprint car racers now have another great supplier for pistons in their sport.
360ci, 700hp engines are no joke. That type of naturally aspirated power requires pistons that are 100% perfectly matched to the combo and that’s exactly what MAHLE has done here. Learn the whole scoop below!
MAHLE Motorsports Introduces
Sprint Car 360ci Box-In-Box Pistons
The 360ci offers strength and durability with less mass
for high output 360 series engines
Fletcher, NC, (September 28, 2017)…MAHLE Motorsports, the leading piston manufacturer for Sprint Car racing’s 410 series, now offers a Box-In-Box piston for the 360 series. The new 360ci Box-In-Box is similar in features to the company’s popular 410ci Box-In-Box. Both offer superior strength and durability for high output engines in a lightweight forged design that uses considerably less mass.
Trey McFarland, MAHLE Motorsports’ Sales/Marketing Manager, says, “With the growing use of higher output engines in the 360 series, some capable of reaching 700 HP, it was important to ensure strength in critically stressed areas. After years of R&D and dyno and track testing, we are excited to now offer a Box-In-Box that meets the standard of our 410ci.”
MAHLE Box-In-Box pistons are hand deburred and feature a phosphate dry film lubricant coating to protect against ring micro-welding and pin galling. The 360ci features slipper skirt forging, ultra-flat ring grooves and CNC machined pin bores. MAHLE’s proprietary GRAFAL® coating is applied to the skirts to prevent scuffing and reduce friction.
