Police Have Made Arrests In The Woodward Dream Cruise Car Thefts, Still Looking For The Cars

Detroit Police have made a breakthrough on the car thefts that occurred shortly after this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise. Six people were arrested as a result of a chop shop raid in the city’s west end, and among the scattered car parts was the placard for the black 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 300 Deluxe that went missing. Police were able to make the bust after one individual’s prints were taken off of the Papa John’s 1972 Chevrolet Camaro, which was found abandoned shortly after news of it’s theft went viral. No pieces of the Chevelle or the 1966 Corvette that was stolen were found, but a lot of Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS parts were found, indicating that the chop shop was targeting anything high-performance.

Here are the two cars that have not been recovered:

The Chevelle is a black 1966 Deluxe 300 two door with North Carolina plates. It, along with the pictured 2007 Chevrolet Silverado tow vehicle and the trailer, were stolen together.

The 1966 Corvette Convertible wears Michigan plates, “ITSMY66”.

Papa John got his Camaro back. Hopefully the owners of these two cars get their rides back in one piece too.

(Thanks to Richard Rzepka for the tip!)

Scumbags! But you have to protect yourself as well, shoot just taking the coil wire off and putting it in the trunk might have stopped the theft. The other thing is demand the host hotels provide security.
