BangShift Project Files: An Old Friend Reappears! The CarJunkieTV.com 1972 Nova Has A New Owner!

If you’ve been around since the beginning of this whole show, back when it was known as CarJunkieTV.com, you might remember this 1972 Chevrolet Nova as one of the CJ fleet cars. There was plenty of discussion about what to do with the car, from an LS swap to an out-and-out rally car. Unfortunately, not much came to fruition, and the car was sold to a gentleman in Las Vegas who started a restoration on the car, but for whatever reason decided to part ways with it, which explains why, after all these years, the Nova has reappeared. New owner “Proven Guilty” was researching the history behind the car when he happened to dig up one of the old CJTV episodes, where DF and Chad tested out the then-new GM Performance LS 327 crate motor and recognized the license plates, which the Nova miraculously still has. He’s only just got the car, so there isn’t much to report as far as progress is concerned except for what had happened between then and now: some rust was cut out of the rear quarters, some of the body had been cleaned up and paint and primer had been laid down on the fenders, doors and hood.

So what’s in store for the Nova now? According to Proven Guilty, the plan is to finish up the bodywork and paint, go through the suspension and brakes to make it safe, source a LS and a 4L60E, and daily-drive the thing, which aligns nicely with some of the original planning that had been going on back in 2008. He even wants to go with Mexican blankets for seat covers, which would be a nice hat tip to the Crew Cab Chevelle, one of the first real “big” project cars that was done. Whatever the case, we can’t wait to see this project take shape!

I bought the CarJunkie 74 Duster and turned it into a 360 clone for the Pure Stock Musclecar Drag Race. Happily runs 13.7’s bone stock. Glad to see one of its old roomates get saved too!
