Iron Trap 1932 Ford “DeLorean” Roadster: Shortening A Torque Tube And Driveshaft

This week’s video takes us through the process of shortening the torque tube and driveshaft on the DeLorean roadster and we are getting excited about how far this car is coming along. We can’t wait to see it completed.

Iron Trap has got all kinds of great projects, but this ’32 Ford Roadster is going to be something. It’s weird to see them getting new parts for a car like this, but it is the right choice to make this car as “original” as possible. Check out the two videos below that show how this project is getting started and then follow along as we’ll bring you regular updates.

Video Description:

The last major fabrication hurdle on the DeLorean Roadster is shortening the driveshaft and torque tube. Matt opted to install a Columbia rear end from a 1933/34 Ford. While the rears are the same width, the driveshafts and rear radius rods are different. Matt works on first shortening the torque tube to fit the chassis, and then shortens the driveshaft to match. The next big challenge is the rear radius rods are different so the set of 1932 rods will need to be modified to fit! Once everything is buttoned up the DeLorean roadster has a working driveline that spins! We hope to make big progress this winter, be sure to stay tuned!!
