Rocky Mountain Race Week 2018 Is Already Full Of Carnage, Action, And More! Here’s Our First Photos

(Photos by Cole Reynolds) Rocky Mountain Race Week is one hell of an event. Inspired by Drag Week, but with a different attitude and sense of family, this even has grown into something promoters Matt and June Frost can truly be proud of. This year the event starts off in Great Bend, Kansas at SRCA Dragstrip where we ran yesterday all afternoon and into the night. Lots of racers ran personal bests, several broke, and a couple crashed. All of them had fun, at some level at least. One particular family that is racing with two generations, several siblings, and at least three or four vehicles is the Wilson family who blew up a 5.3 LS engine early and were able to source one locally and get it swapped AT THE RACE TRACK!!! Yeah, this kids kick some ass, as the brother and sister duo got in and got dirty fixing it. All the while with dad on hand with helpful advice and encouragement. FYI, he did the same swap here two years ago!

This is our first gallery from the event, and we’ll have tons more throughout the week. Tomorrow is a drive day and promises to be fun. We’ll be stopping along the way and getting cool car photos and probably several burnouts, as we roll towards Topeka for race day two on Monday.

If you missed our exclusive Carlos Astor crash photos, CLICK HERE TO SEE THEM ALL.

Otherwise, enjoy our first gallery and we’ll bring you more later today, tomorrow and through the week!
