Everyone knows Richard Holdener for his dyno testing and engine tech stories. He’s tested more LS combos than anyone else on earth and done a lot of stuff nobody even realizes. But one of his favorite things over the years has been intake manifold design. Richard has built all kinds of them, shared designs with some manufacturers, and has a lot more intake manifold knowledge than people realize. But how have they worked? Some of them had to have been a bad idea right? Did any of them make really good power that makes it worth getting your creative juices flowing to design an intake of your own?
In this video, Richard is going to talk about intakes and show one he designed and then tested on the dyno both naturally aspirated and supercharged. Remember, an intake that is going to live under boost has to have some good design and fabrication, and Richard is not a fabricator. But he knows how to get things where he needs them to be and then who to rely on to help him make them a reality. This intake is pretty cool looking too, so that’s a bonus if it actually makes power.
