DIY Poly Bushings? Wait, What? Yep, You Can Mold Your Own Polyurethane Bushings At Home. Watch This.

Okay, in the spirit of full disclosure the bushings being made here are being molded in 3D printed molds and I know everyone doesn’t have a 3D printer. That’s okay, there are ways to make other molds and ways to get 3D printing done very reasonably now as well. So lets not let that ruin what you can learn here. Ready? Yeah, me too.

Now, this isn’t a video designed to help you make every bushing for your hot rod, muscle car, or what have you. There are plenty of really good parts out there available to rebuild the suspension on your ride. This is for the applications where the bushings available are crap, or where there are no bushings available at all. In that case you either need to modify something that is available or make your own. This video is about making your own.

If you find yourself in this kind of position, don’t forget that you can machine poly or delrin bushings from bar stock but you will need to make sure you get it from somewhere that has the right hardness, like McMaster-Carr. If you have a small lathe you can often buy the stock and machine them yourself, depending on the dimensions you will need.
