In the last video we shared from Make It Kustom, Karl was showing how to make low crown panels while working on new panels for the side of his Lincoln Zephyr. As he walked us through the process, and what he was learning along the way, he also mentioned some short comings in his current English wheel configuration. It’s a little short, because he never installed the casters he had originally planned for it, and it needed a table to help support larger panels as they go through the rollers. In addition, the roller and dies could use a little cleanup and Karl sure makes it look easy to polish them and make them good again.
I don’t own an English wheel, but I sure wish I did. I can’t decide whether I should save for a big fancy one, or just go out and buy a simple low buck model until I get to where I might need something fancier. Regardless, I know that I’m going to learn a few things right here.
Check it out.
